Taysha Frazer is an intern in the Health Equity Internship Program and a passionate advocate for public health. She is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Health Policy & Management at the City University of New York (CUNY) School of Public Health and Health Policy. Her dedication to health equity and policy reform, particularly for underserved communities, is deeply rooted in her lived experiences and unwavering commitment to amplifying marginalized voices.
As a first-generation college graduate with honors, Taysha understands the challenges of navigating inequitable systems. Growing up, she faced the added difficulty of learning English while striving for academic excellence. Despite this obstacle, her mother instilled in her the values of resilience and perseverance—principles that continue to shape her advocacy and educational journey. Though she encountered academic struggles early in college, the support of the Educational Opportunity Program helped her turn challenges into strengths, further fueling her drive for success.
Beyond academia, Taysha’s professional experiences have sharpened her ability to think critically, advocate effectively, and analyze the intersection of healthcare access, socioeconomic determinants of health, and public policy. By earning an MPH, she aims to develop the expertise needed to drive systemic change and expand equitable healthcare access for underserved populations.
Her key interests include Medicaid expansion, health equity, and policies that improve healthcare accessibility for low-income communities. She is eager to collaborate with peers and faculty, engage in thought-provoking discussions, and gain new insights that contribute to meaningful public health reforms.
Taysha looks forward to connecting with like-minded professionals and working together to create lasting, impactful change in public health policy and advocacy.
