The Health Equity Internship Program
The Health Equity Consulting (HEC) Group is a mission-driven organization dedicated to partnering with diverse organizations to address inequities in health and social care systems. Leveraging our core capabilities—including strategy development, advanced data analytics, health equity accreditation, implementation science, grant writing, and contract writing—we develop and implement innovative solutions that advance health equity and foster meaningful change.
We are seeking students and trainees who are eager to support HEC Group in working with a variety of organizations to deploy our expertise and capabilities. This internship offers an opportunity to engage with cross-sector partners, apply population health knowledge in real-world settings, and contribute to addressing inequities while advancing measurable improvements in health equity.
1. Collaborate with Partner Organizations
- Assist in facilitating partnerships with healthcare providers, nonprofits, academic institutions, and government agencies.
- Support stakeholder engagement to align organizational goals with HEC’s innovative solutions.
2. Contribute to Grant and Contract Writing
- Assist in identifying grant and contract opportunities that align with partner organizations’ goals and HEC’s mission.
- Develop and refine grant proposals and contract documents, including drafting compelling narratives, preparing budgets, and adhering to specific requirements.
- Collaborate with the HEC team to ensure alignment with organizational goals and compliance with funding requirements.
3. Support the Application of Core Capabilities
- Collaborate with organizations to identify their needs and design customized strategies to advance health equity.
- Assist in data architecture, linkage, and advanced analytics projects to drive evidence-based decision-making.
4. Assist in Program and Policy Development
- Support the design and implementation of innovative programs addressing social determinants of health (SDOH).
- Assist in Medicaid policy initiatives and other equity-focused solutions tailored to partner needs.
5. Participate in Health Equity Accreditation and Capacity-Building
- Work with organizations to achieve accreditation standards promoting health equity and inclusion.
- Contribute to technical assistance efforts to strengthen partner organizations’ ability to sustain health equity initiatives.
6. Contribute to Evaluation and Impact Measurement
- Support the development of evaluation frameworks to measure the success of partner initiatives.
- Analyze data and provide actionable insights to refine strategies and measure outcomes effectively.
- Practical experience in addressing inequities through supporting organizations in navigating complex processes.
- Exposure to innovative tools and techniques, including AI-driven analytics and implementation science frameworks.
- Opportunities to work on diverse projects, including maternal health, mental health, and Medicaid-related initiatives.
- Skills in engaging with cross-sector stakeholders and contributing to impactful health equity solutions.
We are looking for students and trainees who:
- Have a strong passion for addressing inequities and advancing health equity.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills.
- Are proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working with diverse partners and stakeholders.
- Have coursework or experience in policy development, program evaluation, data analysis, or stakeholder engagement.
- Duration: 6–12 months, with flexible scheduling to accommodate academic and project needs.
- Location: Remote.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship and is eligible for course credit as approved by the student’s academic institution.
